  • This beautifully carved door was used in the granary of the Dogon people of Mali. The Dogon are were famous for their doors for a reason: the handcrafted wooden panels were thought to have certain powers.

The doors – each one is unique and belonging to a different family -  tell a story. They were used to protect the grain: the carved motifs include images of insects that could damage the corn and masks to instill the fear of insects. The low reliefs are cut to different panels and are held together by metal staples.

A great vintage addition to any interior!

    Sizing: 30 x 40 centimeter
